Wiraraja Group and Polythene UK have agreed a joint venture worth Rp1.17 trillion, focusing on investment and technology for Indonesia’s sustainable industry.
Batam — PT Wiraraja Indonesia and Polythene UK Ltd officially signed a joint venture agreement worth approximately £50 million, equivalent to Rp1.17 trillion, at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London on Monday, 29 June 2026. The agreement marks a new milestone in strengthening economic cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom in the sustainable manufacturing sector.
The partnership focuses on investment, technology transfer, and the development of value-added industries, which are expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s national industry while supporting the country’s downstreaming and industrialisation agenda.
The signing followed a series of business visits by PT Wiraraja Indonesia to the United Kingdom, which began on 23 June 2026. During the visit, the company held a number of meetings with manufacturing industry players to explore investment opportunities and strategic cooperation in Indonesia.
The exploration process leading to the agreement was facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in London, together with the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) London and the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM, as part of efforts to increase investment and strengthen bilateral economic partnerships between Indonesia and the United Kingdom.
Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the International Maritime Organization, Desra Percaya, said the signing reflected the growing trust between businesses from both countries.
“This signing reflects the growing trust between Indonesian and British businesses, as well as a shared commitment to building a long-term partnership that delivers added value for both countries,” Desra said in an official statement on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.
The agreement also represents a concrete implementation of the UK–Indonesia New Strategic Partnership, which strengthens bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment. Private sector collaboration is expected to reinforce industrial supply chains, accelerate technology transfer, create employment opportunities, and support the development of sustainable industry in Indonesia.
President Director of PT Galang Bumi Industri and Chairman of the Indonesian Industrial Estates Association (HKI), Akhmad Ma’ruf Maulana, said the cooperation with Polythene UK Ltd marks the beginning of an international investment agenda currently being pursued by the company and its partners.
According to him, after completing the agenda in London, the delegation will continue its business mission to Russia and China to explore new investment opportunities that are expected to strengthen the development of Indonesia’s industrial sector.
“After the United Kingdom, we will continue our agenda to Russia and China. God willing, we will also secure investment commitments from both countries. We ask for your prayers and support so that the entire mission proceeds smoothly and brings benefits to the strengthening of Indonesia’s industry and economy,” said Akhmad Ma’ruf Maulana.
The Indonesian Embassy in London reaffirmed its commitment to continue facilitating economic cooperation and business partnerships between Indonesian and British enterprises, with the aim of expanding investment opportunities in priority sectors and strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries in a sustainable manner.
The continued investment mission to Russia and China is expected to further expand Indonesia’s international partnership network, while opening opportunities for new investment that supports national industrial growth, job creation, and greater domestic added value.
