The West Java provincial government is set to provide 15 thousand antigen-detecting rapid test kits for visitors at tourist destinations in the province during the Eid al-Fitr holidays.

“The public is expected to visit tourist destinations amid the homecoming travel ban. We expect public mobility at tourist destinations. We have prepared 15 thousand antigen-detecting rapid test kits at tourist destinations,” Head of the West Java Provincial Tourism and Culture Office Dedi Taufik stated here on Monday.

The office will conduct impromptu antigen rapid tests on visitors of tourist destinations, according to Taufik.

The antigen rapid tests conducted on May 8-9, 2021, and May 15-16, 2021, are aimed at stemming the transmission of COVID-19 and as a precautionary measure against a spike in the COVID-19 caseload during the Eid al-Fitr holidays at tourist destinations, he remarked.

In line with the National Police Chief’s directives, tourist destinations located in red zones, or areas with the high risk of COVID-19 transmission, will be closed.

“After the Eid al-Fitr holidays, there will be mobility of people. The homecoming trip ban is still in place. However, we have taken precautionary measures. The Provincial Tourism and Culture Office and district/city governments have prepared anticipatory steps through the 3T (testing tracing, and treatment) strategy,” he stated.

Moreover, the office will monitor restrictions on the number of visitors and operating hours at the tourist destinations and the application of health protocols at hotels, shopping centers, restaurants, and tourist destinations.
