Surabaya — Indonesia’s digital transformation must be accompanied by stronger cyber resilience to safeguard data, systems, and organisational operations amid the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
“Organisations need a security strategy that enables them to adopt AI with confidence, while also improving visibility and resilience across their entire digital environment,” said Edwin Lim, Country Director of Fortinet Indonesia, at the Fortinet Security Summit Indonesia 2026.
According to Edwin, the development of AI creates opportunities for organisations to improve innovation and productivity, while also reshaping the cybersecurity landscape as threats become faster and more convincing.
He said organisations can no longer prevent the use of AI. Companies need to establish rules so that employees understand what information may be entered into AI applications and how to protect data.
“Companies can no longer block the use of AI. What they can do is implement rules and improve security awareness, including around the use of AI,” Edwin said.
He explained that the concepts of AI for Security and Security for AI need to be applied together. AI can help security teams work faster, while the systems and data used by AI must remain protected.
In addition to technology, strengthening human resources also remains a challenge. According to Edwin, security technology and processes must be supported by people who have the capability to operate and manage them.

Edwin added that cybersecurity must be seen as part of business continuity. A ransomware attack that halts production, for example, can cause significant losses while also undermining customer trust.
“Security must become part of a company’s culture. It is not only the responsibility of one division, but a shared responsibility,” he said.
Through the event, Fortinet encouraged organisations to strengthen their preparedness in facing risks through education and the implementation of security across artificial intelligence, cloud computing, networks, Security Operations, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Operational Technology (OT), and enterprise cyber resilience.
